KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — A man accused of killing his girlfriend’s mother and 14-year-old brother pleaded not guilty on Friday and his bond was denied.

According to the criminal complaint, Markus Guy walked into the Charleston Police Department on Feb. 7 and made a statement to an officer that he killed his girlfriend’s mother Alisha Brooke Carnefix, 39, and her brother — later identified as Koda Jarrett — who was 14 years old.

Guy’s girlfriend told investigators that he picked her up on the night of Feb. 6 and he told her that he killed her mom and little brother. The complaint also said that the vehicle they arrived at the police station in contained two pistols, one of which she believed was used to kill her mom and brother.

The incident happened at a home along Sapphire Road, just outside St. Albans city limits. Investigators say evidence at the scene indicated the two died of gunshot wounds.

Guy was indicted on charges of first-degree murder, use or presentment of a firearm during the commission of a felony and child abuse causing death.

He is due back in court on Dec. 2.
