Suspect sought in Kanawha County armed robbery

UPDATE: (4:17 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28) – The search for a suspect in an armed robbery is still underway, according to the Nitro Police Department.

The NPD says the robbery happened around 10:10 a.m. Wednesday behind the Lowe’s in the Nitro Marketplace. They say they believe the suspect, described as a white male, ran into the woods. The victim was not injured in the robbery.

The NPD says their officers are working with South Charleston PD, St. Albans PD and Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office units, using K-9s and drone surveillance in an attempt to find the suspect. The Nitro Fire Department is also assisting with UTVs for the search.

KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – Authorities are searching for a suspect after responding to an armed robbery call in the Nitro area of Kanawha County.

Nitro Police say the armed robbery happened Wednesday morning in the 1000 block of Nitro Market in Nitro. Police say the victim was robbed of “an undetermined amount” of money but was not injured.

According to Nitro PD, the victim does not work for any of the stores at Nitro Marketplace and is part of a crew working behind the Marketplace.

Police say they are searching for a white male. Officers and deputies from the Nitro PD, South Charleston PD, St. Albans PD and Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office have K-9 units searching the woods behind the marketplace.
