COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Starting off rather warm and humid across the region this morning with temperatures in the 70s. A few areas towards the north are still seeing some upper 60s; however, it’ll be quite a toasty afternoon across the Fountain City.

Afternoon highs climb into the upper 90s this afternoon and evening with only a stray shower or storm for relief. Finding anything substantial in terms of rainfall will be hard to find until maybe next week.

For Labor Day Weekend a weak front arrives and washes out as it moves closer over the weekend helping to drive in a little more moisture for rain, but coverage remains stray. It’s not until next week we see a stronger front arrive with a better chance of showers and storms.

The tropical Atlantic hurricane basin remains quiet for now while we are watching a small area of concern. Development is very low with this storm over the next five days. The Pacific hurricane season has seen it’s fair share of storms with many still bringing rough surf to the Hawaiian Islands.
