    Family of man killed in officer-involved shooting hires attorney

    OPELIKA, Ala. ( WRBL ) — The family of an Auburn man who was killed as a result of an officer-involved shooting has hired legal representation.

    The family of Tias Cobb has hired attorney Ryan Williams of the RCW Law Group and attorney Carlos Moore of the Carlos Moore Law Group. Moore is serving as counsel in the case.

    Cobb was shot and killed after Opelika Police responded to a report of a suspicious incident at the complex in the 1800 block of Century Blvd on Aug. 18. Investigators say the responding officer encountered an individual armed with a firearm.

    An altercation ensued, leading the officer to discharge their weapon, striking the suspect. Despite immediate medical assistance, Cobb died at the scene.

    “Our priority is to ensure a thorough investigation and transparency,” Williams said. “We are committed to getting answers for the Cobb family and understanding the circumstances surrounding this incident.”

    Both attorney’s say they are dedicated to advocating for the rights of individuals and are committed to a fair and comprehensive review of the investigation.

    Moore said, “”Our role is to support the pursuit of accountability and clarity. We are dedicated to uncovering all facts and ensuring that the Cobb family receives the answers they deserve.”
