    Iconic Busch Gardens coaster Loch Ness Monster reopens after 6 months

    JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s iconic coaster the Loch Ness Monster has reopened after temporarily closing in October 2023 for major restoration work.

    The Loch Ness Monster opened at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in 1978 as the world’s first interlocking loop coaster and has been a favorite of thrill-seeking park visitors for the last 46 years.

    The coaster was temporarily closed on Oct. 31, 2023 to “undergo a full restoration project.” According to the park’s website, the update to the coaster includes a refurbished track, as well as “all-new thematic and experiential elements that enhance its status as the park’s most iconic attraction.”
