HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Henrico County Police Division has identified two possible makes and models for the car driven by a hit-and-run suspect who left a mother carrying her 21-month-old baby dead on July 5.

At about 1:15 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 25-year-old Howquana Kara Bugg was in the 5700 block of Nine Mile Road, walking east in the westbound shoulder, when a driver driving in the eastbound right lane hit her . At the time of the crash, Bugg was carrying her 21-month-old infant.

According to police, the driver then fled the scene, reportedly traveling towards Highland Springs.

Four days after the crash, on July 9, Bugg died at a local hospital as a result of her injuries. As of a July 10 press release, the infant remained in the hospital with serious injuries. A spokesperson for Henrico Police told 8News that, last they heard, they were still in the hospital.

“This vehicle should have significant damage to the front passenger side due to the collision,” the July 22 release reads. “Investigators request auto body shops to be on the lookout for damage to this section of the vehicle which would be consistent with a serious crash.”
