Woman shot in Hopewell, police investigating

HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — The Hopewell Police Department is investigating after it says a woman was shot on Texas Street on Friday afternoon.

At around 1:55 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30 it was reported that a woman had been shot on the 800 block of Texas Street. Officers arrived at the scene and determined that the woman had been shot in the leg while a “known suspect” was trying to shoot at a dog, according to police.

The suspect left the area after the shooting, they have not been identified by police. The woman was treated for a non-life-threatening injury at the scene and declined further treatment.
