Prescription drug Take Back Day set for April 27

    2024-04-17

Wright County will be hosting a prescription drug Take Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at two locations – the Albertville Coborn’s (5698 La Centre Ave.) and the Citizens State Bank of Waverly – Montrose Office (145 Nelson Blvd.).

Those bringing prescription medication are urged to leave the medication in original container if possible while blacking out identifying information. If the original container is unavailable, it is asked that the medication be sealed in a plastic bag. No liquids will be accepted. Used vape cartridges will be accepted if the batteries are removed.

Both sites will be drive-thru with limited contact.

Other prescription drug drop box sites are available throughout the year during business hours, including at the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office, 13880 Business Center Drive, Suite 100, Elk River.

The drop box is located just outside the main entrance to the sheriff’s office and is open when the building is open, which is 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The program is anonymous and confidential. The site accepts leftover or unwanted prescription medication in pill form, liquids, ointments or lotions only.

Chemotherapy drugs, needles (sharps), inhalers, and medications being disposed of by commercial medical facilities are not accepted.
