TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WSAV) – An 8 to 10-foot-long alligator has been seen in the waters of Tybee Island, according to the Tybee Island Ocean Rescue.

In a Facebook post Wednesday, the Rescue shared spooky photos of the gator peering out from the beachfront at Polk Street.

The Rescue encouraged safety while visiting the beach:

“For your safety, avoid swimming and keep a safe distance from the water. We are monitoring the situation and will update you when it’s safe to return to the water. Stay safe!

Thursday morning, the Rescue said the alligator had been spotted again, this time near North Beach, adding that there had been no further sightings close to the shore.
