    Health officials holding back-to-school vaccination event in Meck County

    Mecklenburg County Public Health will be holding a back-to-school vaccination event Saturday morning. The goal is to get kids vaccinated within the next 30 days as required by the school district.

    The event will be held at 9 a.m. at the Ella B. Scarborough Community Resource Center.

    Health officials said nearly 500 are registered to receive immunizations. However, more than 500 are on the waitlist.

    Officials said families can walk-in if they aren’t scheduled for appointments on Saturday.

    Mecklenburg County Public Health Director Dr. Raynard Washington, and other public health leaders are expected to attend.

    The county is also planning to host nightly clinics at the end of the month, as well as another vaccination event prior to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools’ deadline.

    Big Shots Vaccine and Health Assessment Appointments: Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ella B. Scarborough Community Resource Center in north Charlotte.
