CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Clearfield community is preparing to hold its annual Cleanup Day to gather trash and help maintain trees.

Clearfield Mayor Mason Strouse and Clearfield Revitalization Corporation (CRC) are organizing the cleanup to be held on Saturday, April 20. Volunteers will collect trash and help mulch the tree boxes in the downtown business district.

The CRC allows residents to “adopt a tree” which includes cleaning out the box around the tree, removing old mulch and weeds, and checking on it throughout the year to make sure it remains presentable.

“Residents should always take pride in their own properties, even if they aren’t officially participating in these activities,” Mayor Strouse said. “I encourage everyone to get out and remove trash and debris from their own property. If we all do our part, we can really make a difference.”

Anyone looking to volunteer is asked to meet at the Lower Witmer Park pavilion at 9:30 a.m. Some gloves, vests, and garbage bags will be available but volunteers can bring their own equipment.

The event is also open to groups, businesses or organizations. Anyone looking for more information about the Community Cleanup Day or to learn how to “adopt a tree” is asked to call the CRC at (814) 765-6000.
