CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) – Over 100 employees will be laid off from Paris Uniform Services in DuBois at the end of June.

The Department of Labor & Industry released a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice that four Paris Uniform Service facilities will be closing down in June.

The locations include Harrisburg, Bradford, Williamsport, and DuBois. In total 138 employees are affected with 113 total from the DuBois location.

“That’s a lot of employees for Dubois. I feel bad for the families. They all have families and everything and its devastating,” Mayor of DuBois Pat Reasinger said.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry, Paris ranked in the top 50 in the county for employers. Now the closing will cause more than just lost jobs.

“I mean, it’s going to impact the city. Paris was one of our largest water consumers, so that will affect the water usage,” Reasinger said.

Paris Uniform Services’ website says their service area encompasses more than 4,000 customers with service to 62 of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties, 12 counties in New York, and four in West Virginia. Paris Uniform Services was purchased by Cintas and a statement was released about the decision.

“Paris Uniforms sold its business to Cintas in early 2024. Paris issued the WARN notice to provide maximum transparency to its employees as Cintas continues to integrate the business into its operations. Cintas encourages all interested Paris employees to apply for positions that are available within the company.”

City officials now hope that everyone getting laid off gets the help they need and new opportunities.

“Unemployment is down in the city. And I know there’s a lot of people hiring. But to find the jobs that they were specialized in is obviously going to be difficult. Usually, they offer some training and unemployment and things like that to get them through. But I think the community has enough jobs to maybe fill those. And I know there’s a lot of people looking for employees,” Reasinger said.
