EBENSBURG, Pa (WTAJ) — The Brownstown Volunteer Firemen’s Club has received a state grant for much-needed foundation and roof repairs.

State Rep. Frank Burns (D-Cambria) announced Friday that $50,000 is heading to the club that needed to repair its building.

“They contacted our office for help to repair their building,” Burns said, “And we got them what was needed to prevent further water damage.”

Robin Murphy, club steward, said there are two fire trucks housed in the building. Murphy said she’s been trying to improve it since taking the position in 2020.

“We had a water leak in the roof, which we had repaired, but we still needed a new roof. And the foundation is letting water into the basement, where we have both fire trucks parked,” Murphy said. “Somebody suggested us trying for a grant to cover the cost; I don’t think they ever tried for a grant (before).”
