STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WTAJ) — A woman was assaulted in her State College apartment Monday afternoon after a man allegedly forced his way inside and attacked her, according to local police.

The incident occurred at the 900 block of Southgate Drive Aug. 19, around 12:26 p.m., when officers from the State College Police Department responded to a report of an assault. According to the criminal complaint, the victim told police she saw the suspect, Joequan Frazier, 40, yelling and screaming at trees behind her property before he approached her. The victim said she attempted to go back into her apartment, but claimed Frazier forced the door open and knocked her to the ground. Once inside, Frazier allegedly kicked and punched the woman as she curled up to protect herself. He then left the scene.

Police said the victim sustained visible injuries, including bloody knees and scrapes on her left forearm. She also complained of pain in her ribs and head and was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center by EMS for treatment.

Multiple witnesses reported hearing Frazier yelling outside before the assault. One witness said she heard Frazier shouting threats and chose not to engage him. Another witness who had accompanied the victim back to the appartement following a doctor’s appointment, said she received a frantic call from the victim during the attack, prompting her to rush to the scene.

Frazier was arrested after officers responded to the scene. Police said Frazier attempted to run but was apprehended after a brief struggle during which he continued to resist. According to the complaint, officers used a taser to subdue him, and he was taken into custody. As he was being escorted to a patrol vehicle, police noted that Frazier allegedly threatened the officers, saying, “I am going to break out of jail and kill you.”
