WATCH: Baby seal learns to swim at Mystic Aquarium

MYSTIC, Conn. (WTNH) — Splish, splash — he’ll grow up in a flash! But for now, you have a chance to meet Mystic Aquarium’s newest harbor seal.

Mom Pearl gave birth to a baby male seal on Mother’s Day, the aquarium announced on Tuesday. The aquarium has not yet revealed his name, but said he weighed 12 kg at birth.

He’s been busy ever since. Video shows him learning how to swim alongside his mother. Zoo staff has described her as “a great mom,” and added that the baby is a “feisty” little guy.

Pearl has been at the aquarium for 12 years. The newest arrival was born as part of a breeding program.
