    University of Hartford gets $1.6M grant for medical research program

    WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The University of Hartford has launched a biomedical research program with the help of a $1.6 million federal grant, the school announced on Wednesday.

    The grant is from the National Institutes of Health, and will create the Undergraduate Research Training Initiative for Student Enhancement, shortened to U-RISE. Twenty students will be trained over five years.

    Those in the program will get an annual scholarship of up to $30,000.
