WPHS Paws for a Cause Club Hosts First Adoption Event

WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — A special group of students at Wheeling Park High School held a special pet adoption event today at Wheeling Park.

The Paws for a Cause club is a student-led initiative at Wheeling Park High School that aims to help and support various animal shelters throughout the Ohio Valley in many ways.

On Saturday, the club hosted its first adoption event, during which the community was invited to come out and see different dogs and cats that various shelters have to offer.

The event featured four different shelters that brought some of their furry friends in hopes someone would give them a new home.

One member of the club who helped put the event together shares how much it means to help local shelters in the community.

All the animal shelters have been really willing to help us out with this and we just want to do something that will benefit them. So it’s really special to have them here and to have them bring some of their dogs and just show the community what they have to offer. Paws for a Cause is something that’s really near and dear to my heart and I’m really glad that I got to be able to put this event on today.

The club hopes to make the adoption event annual, as they plan to make it even bigger next year.
