WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — Dog owners hounded for its return, so it was the leashed Wheeling could do to bring it back.

FidoFest returned to the Fitzsimmons Dog Park at Wheeling Park, a celebration in which local pups arrived by leash or by stroller.

Volunteer Wheeling brought back the vendor market with treats and accessories for the canine who has everything, as well as the best-dressed contest where judges determined which pet was the most fetching.

The festival also unveiled its new art installation along the fence, a series of portraits done by owners of their dogs to celebrate their unconditional loyalty.

“I think that dog owners in particular love to be able to take their dogs to different places. And this is just one very dog friendly event where that can take place. And it just shows that the friendly city is also dog friendly.”

Alex Panas, Program Director, Wheeling Heritage

For the second year in a row, Dirty Paws was responsible for the poochy gathering.

The American Kennel Club also got out the treat bag for its trick shows and performances.
