City of Wheeling Pools set to open June 1

WHEELING, W.Va. — Wheeling City Officials announced on Thursday that city pools will open for the season on Saturday, June 1.

According to officials the facilities – Garden Park, Warwood; Bridge Park, Wheeling Island; Grandview, Wheeling Heights and 36th Street, South Wheeling – will be open noon to 6 p.m., daily, weather permitting.

“We are looking forward to another summer season at our city pools – the perfect place to beat the summer heat. The pools are not only a fun place to cool off, but they also provide some recreational opportunities for our residents,” said Rochelle Barry, director of parks and recreation.

Officials say swimming lessons and Family Fun Nights will also be held at all locations at various times.

Evening swims are on tap every Tuesday in July from 6-8 p.m. at Garden Park and 36 ^th Street pools and every Wednesday in July from 6-8 p.m. at Grandview and Wheeling Island facilities.

Pools are being rented for evening pool parties. Those wishing to reserve a facility can do so online .
