WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — After stepping through the historical tents at Oglebay’s Fort Henry Days, it was time to gaze up at the cloudy skies over Schenk Lake.

That’s where four skydivers parachuted down over the Labor Day weekend crowd minutes after a downpour stopped.

Each of the aerial performers came from Skydive Pennsylvania in Grove City and jumped 3,600 feet above the ground.

The most experienced performer has felt the weightlessness of freefall over 13,000 times, and says he wants to show his audience that in jumping out of a plane, there is fun beyond the fear.

“There is a serenity about it. There’s a freedom about it. There is obviously the adrenaline…Once you get used to it, to be able to be two miles in the air, two and a half miles in the air to look out and be able to see Pittsburgh and also to be able to see Lake Erie at the same time is pretty awesome.”

    Craig Cushing, Professional Skydiver

He says if you’ve been thinking about skydiving, you just have to get the first time in…something he thinks everyone should do once in their lives.
