Historic Drought conditions plague Ohio and West Virginia in Late Summer 2024

WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) – The Latest Drought update outlines the Ohio River Valley in historic drought conditions to end the summer of 2024.

The Ohio River Valley has been outlined under an Exceptional Drought for the first time since the U.S. Drought Monitor was developed in the year 2000.

The U.S. Drought Monitor was developed by a partnership between NOAA, The U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the National Drought Mitigation Center at the University of Lincoln-Nebraska.
