    MARSHALL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A well loved Indiana park that’s received national praise now has another reason for locals and visitors to stop by.

    Turkey Run State Park announced a summer concert series. The events are being hosted by the volunteer group “Friends of Turkey Run and Shades”

    “We’ve got eight dates lined up, with a wide range of talented musicians to entertain our park guests this summer,” Friends’ Chair Curt DeBaun said. “We’re excited to fill the park with blankets and lawn chairs full of people sharing an evening of music.”

    All concerts will be held in the amphitheater at Turkey Run State Park and are free to attend with paid gate admission to the park.

    All but one concert will be held on Saturdays throughout the summer. A full schedule of bands and dates is as follows;

    • June 1 | The Coon Holler Kids
    • June 15 | Larry Summerton
    • June 28 | Bob Warn
    • July 6 | Blue Flame
    • July 27 | Stones Crossing
    • August 3 | High Sierra
    • August 17 | Jack Shannon
    • August 24 | Mackville Blue Gras

    Each concert will begin at 6 p.m.

    “We have people visiting our park from all over the country and we are really excited to offer them this experience to add to their memories,” added DeBaun. “What a great way to finish off a day of hiking and nature.”

    Attendees can also take advantage of food being sold as a fundraiser for the Friends of Turkey Run including hot dogs, chips, and Amish-made whoopie pies during the concerts.
