TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — We have a busy weekend in store with plenty of events taking place across the Wabash Valley.
We have compiled some of the local events that may interest you and your family this weekend.

ALL WEEKEND: MAY 18 AND 19
A Pickleball tournament will be held this weekend at Brittlebank Park in Terre Haute. Organizers say it’s the first major pickleball tournament of 2024 at Brittlebank Park Pickleball Complex.
180 players from several states are expected to participate. The two-day event will pay out over $5,000 in prize money.
The Terre Haute Farmers Market will host its first outdoor summer market of the season. It runs from 8:00 a.m. – noon in the parking lot of the Meadows Shopping Center, located at 2800 Poplar Street in Terre Haute.
Attendees can purchase locally grown produce, delicious culinary creations, and handcrafted goods you can’t find anywhere else.
The Terre Haute Farmer’s Market is held every Saturday through the end of the season.
The Surviving the Color Run will take place Saturday morning in Terre Haute. This will be the 11th annual 5k, put on by Team of Mercy.
Registration begins at 7 a.m. At Baesler’s Market.
The pre-race ceremony starts at 8:40 at the intersection of Brown and Ohio. The race itself begins at 9 a.m. It will go down Ohio Street to Deming Park.
Be sure to keep your eyes out for that as you drive through that area Saturday morning.
Fowler Park Pioneer Village will be open Saturday for residents to explore from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.
Cabin caretakers will open their cabins for you to explore and to demonstrate a variety of 19th century skills and crafts.
New this year, each month will have a focus on a different craft or skill for you to learn. May`s focus will be on gardening for those interested in learning how to garden!
The Terre Haute Bird Festival makes its return on Saturday for the 6th year. It runs 12:00 p.m. -5:00 p.m. at Dobbs Memorial Park.
Many fun and educational activities are being planned, including, live bird demonstrations, educational tables & presentations, guided bird hike through Dobbs Park and a craft area with yard games, a merchandise table and Ben’s Hotdogs Food truck.
A Vendor fair will be held Saturday to raise money for Sullivan City Park. The fundraiser runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the park, located at 625 S. Main St. in Sullivan.
The event will feature food and drink vendors. Some vendors will also be selling goods like wood crafts, plants, essential oils, T-shirts and other clothing, knives, tattoo gift certificates, children’s books, candles, baby clothes, kitchen wares, pet treats, and more. There also will be a face-painting booth.
More than 65 vendors will be in attendance.
WEEKEND EVENTS: SUNDAY, MAY 19
A free showing of the film ‘Hairspray ‘ will take place Sunday night at Moonlite Drive-in in Terre Haute. Gates open at 8 p.m. The movie starts at 9 p.m.
