UPDATE: Service restored after fiber cut disrupted phone and internet services in McDowell and Wyoming counties

UPDATE: Thursday, August 22, 2024 @ 1:02 p.m. | MCDOWELL COUNTY/WYOMING COUNTY, WV (WVNS) — According to a Facebook post from the McDowell County 911 and Office of Emergency Services, disrupted services from a fiber cut in the Oceana area of Wyoming County were restored.

MCDOWELL COUNTY/WYOMING COUNTY, WV (WVNS) — Phone and internet services in McDowell and Wyoming counties may be affected by a fiber line being cut.

According to a post on the McDowell County 911 and Office of Emergency Services Facebook page on Thursday, August 22, 2024, they were informed about a fiber cut in the Oceana area of Wyoming County by Shentel Network Operations.

The Facebook post from the McDowell County 911 and Office of Emergency Services stated that internet and phone service for customers in McDowell and Wyoming counties may be affected by the fiber cut.

According to the Facebook post on the McDowell County 911 and Office of Emergency Services, there is no estimated restoration time.
