DORCHESTER, Mass. (WWLP) – A man from Stoughton is facing several firearm charges after police conducted a traffic stop for extremely dark window tint.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, at around 2 p.m. on August 19, troopers observed a Jeep Compass with extremely dark window tint traveling on Massachusetts Avenue in Dorchester. Massachusetts law indicates that tint is required to meet visible light transmission of 35 percent.

Troopers conducted a traffic stop and smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. While speaking with the driver, identified as 44-year-old Duwayne Corbett , saw a marijuana blunt, and a loose packet of marijuana near the center console. The trooper inquired about a bag behind the driver in which Corbett reached for the bag and offered it to the trooper to examine.

The bag contained a Glock 9mm handgun with a red dot sight, a 16-round magazine, and a defaced serial number. Corbett did not possess a license to carry a firearm and was arrested on the following charges:

    • Unlicensed Possession Of A Firearm (3rd Offense)
    • Firearm Violation With Three Prior Violent/Drug Crimes
    • Receiving A Firearm With Defaced Serial Number
    • Carrying A Loaded Firearm
    • Possession Of A Large Capacity Firearm
    • Possession Of Ammunition Without FID
    • Window Tint Violation

The window tint was measured and failed to meet the light requirement.
