    Woman struck and killed by hit and run driver near Springfield cemetery

    SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in the area of Boston Road and Berkshire Avenue in Springfield.

    One person hospitalized after pedestrian accident in Springfield

    According to the Springfield Police Department, at around 7:45 p.m. Monday officers were called for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers found an adult woman who was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street. Her body was thrown into a fence at St. Michael’s Cemetery.

    She died due to her injuries at the location, her name has not yet been released.

    The driver of the vehicle was not at the location however, an investigation by the Springfield Police Traffic Unit revealed information on a suspect. The suspect, 18-year-old Nathan Colon of Springfield was arrested on the the 0-100 block of Lakevilla Avenue.

    Colon is charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury crash causing death and motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation. He is being held on a $10,000 bail and was also scheduled to have his license taken away on Friday. Colon just turned 18 years old and is a senior at Ludlow High School.
