According to the president and CEO, Kathy Martin this recognition shines a light on people redefining aging and helps to reshape young people’s perceptions of growing old. “Age is just a number. And what we have here are examples of people who have taken on an encore career or doing great service for that community. And it’s just really showing that there are no limits,” expressed Martin.

Also honored was Patrick Sullivan, the former Springfield Executive Director of Parks, Buildings, and Recreational Management, with an Honorary Age of Excellence Award.
