Springfield City Council has approved a special permit for a Tesla dealership in the East Springfield neighborhood

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield City Council has approved a special permit for a Tesla dealership in the East Springfield neighborhood of the city.

That vote took place last Monday. The Council had already approved a proposal for a Tesla service center, but the plans have since expanded to include sales and leasing. The dealership would be located at 365 Cadwell Drive.

Jose Delgado of the Springfield City Council told 22News, “They went in front of the East Springfield Neighborhood Council. So let’s meet the residents, and listen to their concerns. They had a few questions about lighting and noise. Anytime when a new business comes in, especially as big as this, I think there are going to be questions. It seems like so far Tesla and their representatives have done a great job responding to that.”

Tesla had originally intended to build a dealership on Burnett Road in Chicopee, but this proposal faced intense backlash from neighbors.
