Baylor Bears head coach Dave Aranda.

Quinn Murphy has yet to play his junior year of high school football, so to say that he's got plenty of time to make a decision regarding his college future would be an understatement.

With more than 20 offers to date, Murphy has plenty of options as well, so it wouldn't be all that surprising if he wanted to take some time to be "wooed" by multiple different suitors.

Murphy, from Argyle, Texas, has decided to shut his recruitment down, though, in favor of the Baylor Bears.

Baylor has shown a ton of love to him on the recruiting trail, so much so that he feels that he's the Bears' No. 1 option for a 2026 quarterback.

As such, he wanted to show just as much commitment to head coach Dave Aranda and his staff.

“Being a priority 100% played a role in my decision. There is the NIL and other things that lead some kids to schools, but for me, my decision is for the love of football and I felt the love from Baylor. They wanted me, they were going to wait for me and throughout the process, they made me the top quarterback for them in my class. How they recruited me really made a difference with me," Murphy told On3's Chad Simmons .

Coach Aranda will get the headlines for the recruiting win, but he really has offensive coordinator Jake Spavital to thank.

“Coach Spav coached at Texas A&M, West Virginia and California, and the day he got hired, I got on the phone with the staff and they told me I would be their guy. Coach Spav offered me within a few hours of him getting hired. They wanted me to lead this class and coach Spav made me a priority right away," Murphy explained.

“He is a great coach with a lot of experience and he has recruited me to be their guy. I like him as a coach, how we have built a relationship and what I think he can do with me at Baylor.”

Baylor only has three 2026 commitments so far, but Murphy projects to be an important part of the class. According to the 247Sports composite, he's the No. 38 quarterback recruit in the 2026 class.

He threw for 3,030 yards and 52 touchdowns with just eight interceptions as a sophomore in high school. With two more seasons of high school ball like that, he'll undoubtedly be one of the top 2026 quarterbacks when all is said and done.
