Washington Nationals center fielder Dylan Crews (3) crosses home plate after hitting his first-career home run against the New York Yankees during the first inning at Nationals Park.

Washington Nationals right fielder Dylan Crews needed only two pitches to get going Wednesday night.

The 22-year-old rookie smashed an inside fastball into left center field as the leadoff hitter, logging his first-career MLB homerun and giving Washington an early 1-0 lead over the New York Yankees.

Crews' mash soared 399 feet and ended up in the New York bullpen, much to the chagrin of Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon.

In the bottom of the fourth inning Crews would add to Rodon's headaches with a one out double that would score right fielder Jacob Young from second base, increasing Washington's lead to 5-1.

The 2023 first round pick and NCAA champion with LSU made his big league debut Monday and recorded his first career hit and run scored on Tuesday .

Crews finished his Wednesday night 2-for-4 with two RBI on top of his homer as Washington downed New York, 5-2, to take the series.

After just three games Crews is batting .400 with a 1.355 OPS.
