Law enforcement apprehended a man Sunday evening after he allegedly went on a wild crime spree across York and Adams counties, stealing vehicles, robbing a Rutter's and attempting a carjacking at a restaurant, according to news releases.

York County Regional Police identified the man as 31-year-old Dwayne Wolfe. No address was given for him, but police said he comes from Maryland. He is scheduled to be arraigned this morning, according to online court records.

Wolfe faces charges including robbery, attempted robbery, theft by unlawful taking, false identification to law enforcement and more, online court records state.

It started around noon Sunday in McSherrystown borough, Adams County as police responded to an attempted robbery at a Turkey Hill convenience store in the 600 block of South Main Street. Thirty minutes later, police received a call about another attempted robbery at a Uni Mart just two blocks away involving the same man, according to borough police.

McSherrystown Borough Police gave a description of the man and said he was driving a gray, four-door Toyota Camry with a Pennsylvania registration of LPW 7513. The car had been reported as stolen in Gettysburg after the man ditched a vehicle taken in Maryland, according to the borough and York County Regional police.

Hanover Borough and Penn Township police spotted the car but terminated a pursuit, York County Regional Police said in the news release.

Robbery of convenience store in Spring Grove reported

The man stopped at the Dunkin Donuts in Spring Grove just before 2 p.m. He attempted to steal money by going behind the counter. Afterwards, he went to a Rutter's store in the borough and stole more than $500, the release states.

An officer spotted the stolen vehicle just outside of West York, and law enforcement from multiple agencies — West Manchester, West York, York City, and York County Regional — pursued it. The man abandoned the car in the 1300 block of West Princess Street and ran off.

Law enforcement searched for the man with the help of a K-9. An officer spotted the man behind the CVS on Richland Avenue, but the suspect ran off as police tried to detain him, the release states.

Police allege the man then stole a dirt bike and a gray Mazda 3 hatchback in the City of York.

Attempted car-jacking reported at a York Township restaurant

Around 6:10 p.m., law enforcement received a report of an attempted carjacking at the Lion's Pride Restaurant in York Township. The description of the man matched, police said.

Police searched the area and found him behind a bank in the 900 block of Country Club Road in York Township. He was taken into custody, the release states.

York County Regional Police allege officers recovered $493 from the man's shorts as well as other evidence from the crimes, the release states. Police were still looking for the missing Mazda 3 as of last night.

In the news release, police wrote that Wolfe "has an impressive 30 page rap sheet for as young as he is."
