Lithium-ion Battery Charging Cause of Fire
Yuma Fire Department responded to an early morning fire at a furniture store. Friday At about 5:30 a.m. crews from th Yuma Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a "water flow alarm" at a furniture store in the 300 block of West 32nd Street. n arrival, crews found heavy smoke and water coming through the front doors of the store. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire. Yuma Fire said that the properly working fire sprinkler system prevented more serious damage the building and its contents. Yuma Fire Investigators discovered the fire's are of origin was a shelf with lithium-ion batteries and a battery charging station. There were no injuries reported and the stores business operations were not disrupted.
