Several years ago, we decided to start doing staycations in the city and attending a holiday performace at the Performing Arts Center. Like this year's "Yippee Ki Yay – The Die Hard Parody."
One of our favorite things to do during the Holidays is to have a staycations in Downtown Denver so we can attend one of the great performances at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts on Christmas Eve.
For many years, we have stayed at the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center (Hyatt), so we can attend a Christmas show and have a nice dinner downtown.
During the holidays, there are many parties and shows going on in the downtown area. Even on Christmas Eve. Staying at the Hyatt is centrally located and convenince to get to these events and shows.
Possible Events
Over the years we have gone to Holiday plays, musicals, and New Years Eve parties at the performing art center. Blizzard or shine, we can still walk down to the center without issue from the Hyatt.
We also have attended the 1940s White Christmas Ball several times. The event is usually in early December. But the best part is it is in the Hyatt's convention center. Several times when attending, the Dever Light Parade pass right by the hotel. The convention center has a large window with a great view of the parade going by.
In addition, the Hyatt has a great indoor pool area and gym. We spent hours in their indoor pool and outside jacuzzi. It is also located blocks from the 16th Street Mall. Has several bar areas to choose from. My favorite is the bar on the 27th floor of the Hyatt. It has a spectacular view of the mountains and city.
This Year's Holiday Performances and more
Right now, the Denver Performing Arts Center has many performances and events going on. See the list below.
This Holiday we are going to see"Yippee Ki Yay – The Die Hard Parody." at the Denver Performing Arts Center on December 23rd. A parody of a perfect Holiday movie. At least we think so.
Nothing says the Holiday more than Die Hard. This retelling of classic Holiday film Die Hard is a joyfully funny show came to the Garner Theatre from its UK tour. This story goes, gunmen seize an LA skyscraper, off-duty policeman John McClane is the hostages’ only hope. This uplifting action romp (and unauthorized parody) pays affectionate tribute to the iconic 80s festive fan favorite.
