Most Notre Dame fans expect Texas A&M to be a dynamic defense. The offense, however, is a much bigger question mark. It’s uncertain what exactly to expect under new offensive coordinator Collin Klein, which can make things feel unsettling.

There are plenty of strengths to work with, as well as some key areas of concern. Here is everything you need to know about Mike Elko’s Aggies. It is an enigmatic group coming in.

    A&M Strengths

Here’s the overall strength: talent. Unfortunately, talent isn’t everything for the Aggies. There are a lot more questions than answers right now. These are the strengths to know for the Texas A&M offense.

    Weigman has the goods

There aren’t many people out there questioning how talented Conner Weigman is. When he’s healthy, he is one of the more talented passers in the SEC, if not the country. In nine games played in his career, Weigman has thrown for 1,875 yards and 16 touchdowns. He has also only thrown two interceptions, while rushing for two more scores. The talent is undeniable.

    Big bodied pass catchers

While the Aggies might not have the most dynamic pass catchers of all time, they do have a ton of size and length. That combination can be difficult to counteract for defensive backs, especially if they know how to out leverage down the field and fight for the football. Between Noah Thomas and Jahdae Walker, they are not over 6-4 out wide, with Thomas standing at 6-6. If you throw in tight ends Tre Watson (6-5) and Donovan Green (6-4), Texas A&M looks like a basketball team with their pass catchers. The cornerbacks have to be ready for the back shoulder game.

    Creative offensive play caller

Notre Dame might be familiar with Aggie offensive coordinator Collin Klein. Marcus Freeman and the program actually had interest in him a couple years ago while he was still with Kansas State. He is a coordinator who has shown that he can assimilate to different quarterbacks, and supporting casts. You can bet that Klein will get the best out of his offense.

    A&M Question Marks

With those strengths in mind, there is plenty for the Aggies to navigate. Here are the things to pay attention to closely. Talent won’t be enough to completely overhaul the offensive success.

    Can Weigman stay healthy?

Being talented is awesome, but if you aren’t available, it doesn’t matter. When he’s on the field, the Texas A&M passing game has a chance to be potent. The problem is he’s one bad play away from figuring out what the depth is behind Weigman. Keeping their quarterback healthy is going to be the top priority, but only being available for nine games is a crazy number.

    Offensive line cohesiveness

Texas A&M has talent on the offensive line, but it has been underdeveloped and inconsistent up until this point. Trey Zuhn is a very solid player at left, as is Chase Bisontis next to him at left guard. There are folks around the program that think Bisontis could be one of the best offensive lineman in the country this fall. The rest of the offensive line is transfer heavy and is still being figured out. That unit has ability, but will have to mesh together before it’s anything other than a question mark.

    Limited big play ability

As mentioned before, Texas A&M has a lot of size but nobody that is overly dynamic. Freshman athlete Terry Bussey has tons of juice but nobody knows just how he will be used, especially early on. With the preseason injury to Reuben Owens, the ability to create big plays is anything but a certainty. That’s an element the Aggies will be searching for.
