Kentucky Wildcats head coach Mark Stoops made some comments about the Georgia Bulldogs this week, while discussing quarterback Brock Vandagriff, that show just how much UGA's coaching staff is respected throughout the SEC.

Vandagriff, who transferred to Kentucky after spending the first three seasons of his career at Georgia, will make his first career SEC start on Saturday when the Wildcats take on the South Carolina Gamecocks in Lexington.

Earlier this week, Stoops was asked about the decision to pursue Vandagriff this past offseason despite the former four-star recruit not having much college film.

Stoops noted that part of the reason why Kentucky felt comfortable with Vandagriff was because of the coaching that he received at Georgia.

"We did put a lot of faith and confidence in Brock because we believed in him," said Stoops . "What we did see on film, we liked. Again, I go back to he's coming from a program [where] you know how well coached he was and how complex they (Georgia) are. You know, with playing Georgia, they're not just good players -- they're very well coached. And so when we were taking somebody like Brock from there who was their backup, you saw his operation, you saw the way he was coached, you saw the way he played in high school, you felt pretty good about it."

If Vandagriff had been a backup at a different program, he might not have received much interest from SEC programs (due to a lack of collegiate film). Stoops and the Wildcats, however, felt confident about him as a player because they knew he had been well coached at Georgia for three seasons. I'm not sure an opposing coach can give a program a bigger compliment. Words are words, but Stoops backed up his praise for Georgia by acting on it (taking Vandagriff as a transfer).

Vandagriff completed 12-of-18 passes for 169 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception in Kentucky's season-opening 31-0 win against Southern Mississippi last weekend (he also rushed five times for 35 yards).

The Georgia native will look to keep it going on Saturday at 3:30 PM ET when Kentucky kicks off against South Carolina.

Things get real the following week when Vandagriff and the Wildcats host Georgia for an early-season primetime showdown.
