Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott got a whopping yet totally expected payday on Sunday when he signed a four-year worth $240 million to become the first ever $60 million a year quarterback in NFL history.

Naturally, the contract created and will continue to create controversy among both fans and media. But former Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson knows a thing or two about winning Super Bowls, having provided to Lombardi Trophies for the storied franchise, and he has a strong opinion on whether or not Dak's contract is well deserved.

"Well, like him or not, Dak is the guy," Johnson emphatically said on live TV on Sunday morning following the news. "He will be the guy. He has been great during the regular season. Everybody says, 'well, you got to win playoff games.' Well, give him a chance to win playoff games!"

"Well, surround him with a better supporting cast," Johnson explained when asked what did giving Prescott a chance meant. "Now, I'm not sure about their running backs right now , but they've got some outstanding receivers, they got a good tight end. They've got a good football team, they got a good defense. (The problem is not Dak), give him a chance. He is the guy."

That's about as strong of an opinion that you can get from Johnson. Fittingly enough, Johnson's quarterback, Troy Aikman, has always been supportive of Prescott as well. Winning championships in the NFL is hard and for those who have done it multiple times to see that Prescott has what it takes to lead the Cowboys to where they want to go is very telling.

After all, these are two men that are always unafraid to be critical of the Cowboys. Whether they're in the right or in the wrong, you pretty much can take them at their word.
