On August 5, police say Papa Diop, 38, "brutally" struck a woman in the South Bronx. He was charged with first-degree rape by the New York Police Department. He was caught on Saturday.

Based on what reports say, he followed the woman and asked her for directions before raping her.

He raped her while she was lying on a park bench, she says. The police source said Diop came into the U.S. without permission last year.

He has a $250,000 bond to stay at Rikers Island jail.

City's Sanctuary Laws And The Migrant Crisis

As a local news source, we contacted the Bronx District Attorney's Office and U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE).

The head of patrol for the NYPD, John Chell, said that the city's "sanctuary laws" have made migrant crime worse.

When will our (New York City) sanctuary city laws be amended to allow us to notify federal authorities regarding the deportation of non-citizens convicted of violent crimes? John Chell asked on X.

He talked about Daniel Davon-Bonilla, 24, from Nicaragua, who is accused of raping a 46-year-old woman with a knife over the weekend in Brooklyn with Leovando Moreno, 37, who is living on the streets.

Earlier this year, Davon-Bonilla was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a woman at a migrant center.
