The family of 22-year-old Hector Aranda is seeking help following his death in a hit-and-run accident on the 14 Freeway.

On June 14 , Hector was experiencing car issues and was getting towed near Red Rover Mine in Acton when a 17-year-old driver collided with the rear of his car, hitting both Hector and the tow truck driver.

Following the collision, the 17-year-old driver fled the scene on foot and was later taken into custody.

Now, Hector’s family is calling on the community for help with expenses such as the funeral as they grieve.

“He was a good kid, very hard-working, trying to do the right thing and go to school and help his mom as his parents go through a divorce,” said Hector’s cousin, Olga Garcia. “He was his mom’s support and it’s been a tough loss.”

To make matters worse, this is the second child that Hector’s parents have lost. He was the second oldest child and his tragic passing has left a hole in the family.
