(Adair) Former Adair Police Chief Brad Wendt was sentenced today to 60 months in prison.

According to Federal Court records, upon release, Wendt shall serve a supervised release term of three years. Wendt shall pay a $1,100 special assessment to the Crime Victims’ Fund and shall pay a $50,000.00 fine.

Wendt was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal.

In February, a Federal grand jury convicted Wendt of conspiracy to make false statements to the ATF, eight counts of making a false statement to the ATF, and illegal possession of a machine gun. A sentencing report noted that Wendt exploited his position to buy and sell machine guns for himself and his friends, all for their personal use.
