ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Metropolitan Detention Center is investigating a clerical mistake that led to the early release of another inmate. Investigators said that on Wednesday afternoon, an inmate was on conditional release which required him to be transferred to pretrial service prior to being let out but the transfer wasn’t completed.

MDC contacted the inmate and advised him of the release conditions. The inmate is now completing the remaining requirements of his release. MDC’s Office of Professional Standards is investigating the release.

This is the second clerical mistake resulting in the early release of an MDC inmate this month. Officials said a new protocol is now in place.
