If you blinked, you missed it. It was brief, but there was an earthquake to make sure everyone in southeast Missouri was awake thanks to the ever-present New Madrid Fault. I noticed on the USGS earthquake map, there was a circle in southeast Missouri early Wednesday morning. The epicenter of this not large quake was just west of New Madrid, Missouri.
Man dies 2 years after shooting in St. Louis
ST. LOUIS — A man wounded in a shooting in 2021 died last week due to complications from a gunshot wound, St. Louis police said Tuesday. In an update posted to the police department's website, police said Bryan Davis of Bellefontaine Neighbors died on July 19. The update said the medical examiner's office ruled the manner of death as "homicide."

Alton woman injured in Friday crash
A wreck that closed a portion of Fosterburg Road Friday morning sent one woman to the hospital with undisclosed injuries and resulted in a number of tickets. The Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department says 49-year-old Robin Whitford of Alton was driving a 1998 Mitsubishi when she left the road at around 7:20am, driving through a ditch and crashing into a tree.
