Design, Bulldoze and Water Flow
A multi-year – multi phase plan to bring the Smoky Hill River back to life in Salina is underway, but most of the work will be under the radar for the next couple of years. City of Salina Utilities Director Martha Tasker joined in on the KSAL Morning News Extra Thursday with a look at the ecosystem restoration effort the City and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are joining forces to revive the river over the next 6-years.

City approves 3-year agreement with Prairie Paws to operate animal shelter
The Emporia City Commission approved a three-year agreement with Prairie Paws Animal Shelter to operate the Emporia Animal Shelter Wednesday morning. Prairie Paws, a regional animal welfare organization based out of Ottawa, was selected by the city out of three potential partners in May. It will complete the transition of the shelter from the Humane Society of the Flint Hills on Aug. 4. The Humane Society has managed the shelter since 2015.
