KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Kennewick Fire Department has released more information on a fire that destroyed a restaurant on West Kennewick Avenue Sunday night .

The call for help came in at 7:42 p.m. As fire crews responded to the 2500 block of West Kennewick Avenue, they learned witnesses said smoke was coming from the Mis Raices Cafe building and more units were called in to help. The KFD on-duty Battalion Chief was able to get to the building within four minutes of the first dispatch call and reported smoke coming from the building and he could see flames inside the building.

Firefighters went to work fighting the fire on the outside of the building, then were able to get inside the building and knock down flames. A KFD ladder truck was then used to get access to the roof, where firefighters cut a hole and allowed heat and smoke to be released. Kennewick Fire said fire crews had the blaze under control within 11 minutes of the first fire engine at the scene.

Crews spent more than three hours at the building, putting out hotspots and checking for any hidden fire. No one was hurt and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Fire crews from the Kennewick Fire Department, Benton County Fire District 1 and Richland Fire & Emergency Services all responded to the scene. The Kennewick Police Department also responded and provided help with traffic and street patrol.
