Man shot on Kirk Street in Fifth Ward dies at hospital
HOUSTON, TX – A man was found shot in Houston’s Fifth Ward Tuesday afternoon. The shooting occurred around 2 p.m. in the 2300 block of Kirk Street. According to the Houston Police Department, the man was transported in critical condition to the hospital and was pronounced deceased. Homicide and Crime Scene Units are now on the scene investigating.

HOUSTON, Texas — A recent anti-crime initiative led by Constable Mark Herman's office in the West District of Precinct 4 has yielded significant results. The Overtime West District Patrol Division Impaired Driver/Anti-Crime Task Force, conducted on August 23-24, 2024, focused on increasing visibility, mobility, and traffic enforcement in predesignated areas within Precinct 4, particularly around the Cypress Community. Sheriff’s Office arrests Scam Artist at The Woodlands Mall
On August 22, 2024, Deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, assigned to The Woodlands Patrol Division, responded to a report of a suspicious person at The Woodlands Mall. Deputies were advised that a suspect was engaged in a “Quick Change” scam, which is a sleight-of-hand trick designed to deceive cashiers into accepting less money than the total purchase amount.

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Lauren Gore to the Texas Southern University Board of Regents for a term set to expire on February 1, 2025. Lauren Gore of Houston is a partner and co-founder of LDR Growth Partners LP. He is the vice chairman of the board for Combined Arms, secretary of the board for KIPP Texas Schools, and a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Texas Workforce Investment Council. Additionally, he is a former executive board member of Communities in Schools of Houston. Previously, he served as an attorney with Baker Botts and as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army, with a combat deployment to Iraq. Gore was honorably discharged in 2012. Gore received a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School.
