    Health inspections: 'Multiple dead wood roaches' found in downtown Athens bar

    Here are the Georgia Department of Health's restaurant inspection scores for Athens-Clarke and Oconee counties conducted July 30 through Aug. 13. Scores in each category are listed in order of most recent inspection date.

    The Georgia Department of Public Health, Environmental Health Section, conducts regular restaurant inspections to help keep residents and visitors safe.

    • BLIND PIG TAVERN EASTSIDE (2301 COLLEGE STATION RD STE 10A, 11A, 12A): 80. Inspector notes: "Open box of corn starch stored on kitchen shelf. Expired buttermilk stored in walk-in (WI) cooler. Employee stacking wet food pans rather than positioning pans to completely air dry. Condensation accumulation in keg cooler at bar. Damaged faucet at hand sink located at wait service area. Damaged floor tiles in dish wash area."
    • MANOR LAKE ASSISTED LIVING & MEMORY CARE (933 US 29 HWY): 80. Inspector notes: "Open box of baking soda stored on kitchen shelf. Chemical spray bottle stored on kitchen shelf without label as to identity of contents. Pre-wrapped silverware stored with food contact surfaces exposed. Single-service cups and to-go plates stored on floor in dry goods room. Food debris accumulation on underside of shelf at steam table."
    • BOJANGLES (3210 LEXINGTON RD): 87. Inspector notes: "Multiple employees wearing bracelets during food preparation. Inspection report not posted in dining room by door. Most recent score not posted in drive-thru window. Prep sink leaking from faucet by raw walk-in cooler. Both dumpsters doors left open after last use. Drain plug missing from right dumpster. Observed dust on air vent over dry storage."

Waste receptacles not covered in women's restroom. Cove base molding missing along floor/wall juncture in downstairs bar. Unfinished concrete floors observed in WIC, liquor storage area, and mop room. Observed cracked floor tiles by WIC and ice machine."
    • FLANAGAN'S (301 E CLAYTON ST): 84. Inspector notes: "All 3 rest rooms' hand washing sinks not supplied with soap. No paper towels stocked in any of the 3 restrooms. Observed build-up of mold in bulk ice machine. Health Score was more than 15 feet away from the door and stored behind the counter. Metal cups without handles being used as ice scoops at bar ice bin. All scoops must have handles. Multiple dead wood roaches found throughout establishment."
    • KRYSTAL (4005 LEXINGTON RD): 78. Inspector notes: "Metal and plastic pans stacked wet on clean dish shelf above 3-compartment sink. Wall panels loose and detached in rear dry storage area."
