Jets All-Pro Pays Compliment to Commanders Rookie Star

Jayden Daniels wasn't sensational in his lone joint practice work against the New York Jets Thursday morning, but that doesn't mean he didn't leave a strong impression.

The second overall pick by the Washington Commanders went against one of the best secondaries in the NFL and more then held his own by not throwing an interception throughout the day.

Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner (1) warms up before a matchup with the Browns

All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner took notice and even told Daniels after practice that he was destined for grearness.

"Man, you’re going to be real good,” Gardner unveiled to reporters on what he told Daniels.

The Heisman Trophy winning quarterback enters the first year with a Commanders franchise in the early stages of a rebuild of sorts. Washington last won the NFC East in 2020, but hasn't finished with a record over .500 since 2016.

For Gardner to come out with that comment regarding Daniels is a great first sign for the organization. The former fourth overall pick out of Cincinnati is the first defensive back in NFL history to be named a first-team All-Pro player in each of his first two years in the league.

They don't make many lockdown corners like Gardner.

For him to think as highly of Daniels shows that the Commanders are on the right path - potentially for the first time in years.
