One of the players that Colorado will be counting on this season is converted safety Trevor Woods. Woods, who transitioned last season, making the move to linebacker, has had Coach Prime singing his praises all offseason. Back in July, during Big 12 Media Days, Coach Prime threw high praise out for Woods. “I really think this young man is going to be the next Brian Urlacher," Sanders stated. "I think he's going to take the transition from safety to linebacker and be dominant."

It remains to be seen if Woods will be dominant, but having the blessing of a Hall of Fame player can never hurt. Recently Woods was asked the difference between playing safety and now playing linebacker. “At linebacker, I don’t really have to disguise sometimes because they're not looking at me,” Woods said. This will allow for Trevor to go out and make plays.

Trevor noted that he was up to 217 pounds and how that would help him with his new role. “I'm way bigger, I'm way stronger right now,” Woods said. “I feel a lot more comfortable playing against the linemen.” The more comfortable that Woods becomes, the more likely that he will grow into the type of player that Deion believes he can be. When that happens it will only mean more headaches for opposing offenses as they have to figure out how to scheme for this converted safety, with a bright future.
