DiNucci: From Golf Course to Roster in One Day

If the Buffalo Bills’ signing of quarterback Ben DiNucci came as a surprise to any fans, they were not the only ones. Even DiNucci himself was not expecting to join an NFL roster when he got the call from Buffalo.

In a recent interview, DiNucci spoke about where he was before joining the team and what the opportunity means to him.

“The fact that I'm able to come out here, I was golfing Sunday morning, and then all of a sudden, Bills call me and I'm here, you know, 24 hours later," said DiNucci. "So, very appreciative, very grateful. I don't take this lightly, right? There's three guys on every team right now. So there's 96 guys in the world who get to say this is their job.

"So I'm really excited for myself, to go show other guys what I can do."

DiNucci continued, discussing how welcoming the quarterback room has been since joining the team.

"Josh [Allen] has been extremely helpful already," said DiNucci. "Mitch [Trubisky], Shane [Buechele], all these guys have been really helpful in trying to get me up to speed as quick as possible. So big, big help from those guys."

Selected in the seventh round of the 2020 draft by the Dallas Cowboys, DiNucci started one game in Dallas and finished with 219 passing yards. Since his time in Dallas, he spent a year in the XFL in 2023, where he led the league in passing yards.
