Rece Davis Names The Best Team In College Football This Season
By Zach McKinnell,

Georgia has continued to dominate college football over the past three seasons under head coach Kirby Smart. The Bulldogs won back-to-back CFP national championships and made three consecutive appearances in the SEC Championship game.
Smart has led the Bulldogs to 39 consecutive regular-season wins, which has raised expectations for the program to a peak level entering 2024.
Georgia missed the College Football Playoff last season after a loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship game. The Bulldogs rebounded with a dominant 63-3 win over Florida State in the Orange Bowl, which added to the excitement surrounding this year's team.
On the latest episode of the " College GameDay Podcast ," ESPN's Rece Davis discussed why Georgia is still the best team in college football despite many experts picking against the Bulldogs due to a difficult schedule next season.

"Georgia is the anti-schedule pick," Davis said. "This is the belief that if you are good enough, you'll win the games anyway. If you are powerful enough, you will win the games anyway.
"Georgia has to go to Alabama, to Texas, to Ole Miss, and they've got Tennessee at home and yet, I still think I'm defaulting to who do I think the best team is. So I think the best team is Georgia and so that's who I'll say No. 1."
The Bulldogs have one of the most difficult schedules in the SEC, starting with a matchup against No. 14 Clemson in Atlanta, Georgia. Next season, they also face No. 5 Alabama, No. 4 Texas, and No. 6 Ole Miss on the road.
Despite the difficult schedule, Georgia's expectations remain high due to having one of the most talented rosters in the nation. Quarterback Carson Beck is expected to be a Heisman Trophy favorite after throwing for 3,941 yards and 24 touchdowns last season.
The Bulldogs also added former Florida running back Trevor Etienne, who has totaled over 1,400 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns over the past two seasons. Defensively, the Bulldogs return multiple key contributors, including defensive end Mykel Williams and safety Malaki Starks.
Georgia opens the 2024 season against Clemson on Aug. 31 in Atlanta, Georgia. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m./CT on ABC.
