The Minnesota Vikings are having a rough preseason, and it narrowly avoided getting worse. After the devastating news of rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy's season-ending injury , the team saw another key offensive player go down during a joint practice with the Cleveland Browns.

Wide receiver Jordan Addison, one of the brightest young weapons on the team, suffered a leg injury while attempting to haul in a contested pass. Trainers quickly came to his aid, helping him off the field before Addison was carted back to the locker room .

Fortunately, Addison's injury doesn't look like it's going to be a significant long-term concern for the Vikings. Alec Lewis of The Athletic reported that Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said Addison injured his ankle and is not likely to practice tomorrow.

It's anticipated that Addison will undergo some tests, but he should be okay, which is a sigh of relief since he is expected to be a critical part of their offensive attack again this season.

The former first-round pick made an immediate impact during his rookie year paired next to superstar wideout Justin Jefferson, racking up 70 catches for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns. The two formed one of the most dangerous receiver tandems in the league, and hopes are understandably high for their continued success in 2024.

For now, the primary focus for the Vikings staff will remain on Addison and diagnosing the unknown severity of his ankle injury. Still, the early returns suggest they may have caught a break.
